Brain / Out is a multiplayer shooter with a post-Soviet theme where players engage in dynamic battles using a variety of modern weaponry. Mercenaries and Marauders fight for financial gain, making survival and earning money the primary motivators. The game features a fair "skill-based" system that allows skilled players to overcome better-equipped opponents through strategic combat and close-quarters fighting. Players can customize their loadouts with a wide range of NATO and Warsaw Pact weapons, including rifles, shotguns, pistols, sniper rifles, and melee options. Weapon upgrades and modifications are available using collected parts, allowing players to enhance their arsenal. Additionally, players can utilize equipment such as bulletproof vests, helmets, grenades, and mines to improve their survivability. Skill is rewarded with a ranked system that offers unique weapon sets to the top 100 players.
