Hard West is a unique turn-based strategy game set in a supernatural Wild West. Players follow Warren, a man seeking revenge against those who wronged him, through eight story-driven scenarios and forty tactical combat missions. The game features a colorful cast of characters whose fates are intertwined with the player's choices. Decisions made throughout the game will affect the narrative and lead to multiple endings. Combat utilizes a card system where players collect and combine abilities for strategic advantage. The game also incorporates elements of luck, dynamic cover, shadow spotting, ricochets, and a vast arsenal of historically inspired weaponry.
