Rust is a survival game set on a procedurally generated island where players must scavenge for resources, build shelters, and defend themselves against both the environment and other players. Players start with nothing but a rock and a torch, needing to gather materials to craft tools, weapons, and armor. They can explore abandoned settlements, mysterious monuments, and encounter various factions vying for control of the island's resources. The game features a complex crafting system, vehicle mechanics including cars, trains, and helicopters, and a robust base-building system allowing players to fortify their territory. Rust offers a sandbox experience with no set objectives, allowing players to choose their own path, whether through cooperation, trade, or raiding other players' bases.
