In Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist, a terrorist group called The Engineers unleashes the Blacklist, a series of escalating attacks on U.S. interests worldwide. Players take on the role of Sam Fisher, a highly skilled covert operative, as he races against time to uncover the mastermind behind this devastating threat. The game allows players to choose their own playstyle, whether it be stealthy "Ghost," aggressive "Assault," or lethal "Panther." Players can utilize a variety of gadgets, including the Snake Cam and Micro-trirotor Drone, along with classic tools like the Sticky Shocker and Karambit knife. Sam assembles a new Echelon team, consisting of Anna Grim Grimsdottir, Isaac Briggs, and Charlie Cole, aboard their mobile ops unit, the Paladin. The Strategic Mission Interface (SMI) provides real-time data on terrorist activities and allows players to customize Sam's equipment and upgrades. Splinter Cell Blacklist also features an updated Spies vs. Mercs mode with new asymmetrical gameplay and a return of the classic experience. Cooperative missions allow players to team up with friends to earn in-game currency and unlock additional weapons and gadgets.
