FPS Chess combines the classic strategy of chess with the fast-paced action of first-person shooters. Instead of traditional moves, players engage in combat using unique weapons and abilities inspired by each chess piece. The queen wields a machine gun, the rook fires sniper shots, and the king brandishes a deadly sword. Players can battle friends or strangers online, via LAN, or through local split-screen. The game features six distinct piece toolkits, each offering a variety of weapons and special abilities, encouraging diverse playstyles. A custom board editor allows players to personalize their matches with unique pieces and environments.
